Alfresco
It’s that time of the year again. The pleasant surprise of a summer’s day, between rainy days, blink and you’ll miss it, so be ready. At home we have the outdoor seating, cushions, dining area, all prepared for instant al fresco. We love impromptu lunches on a Sunday, the sun’s out, and we ring round friends to see who available to pop down in their sunhat and sandals. To get your lawn ready with outdoor seating, weather proof fabric for cushions and seating pads, lanterns for candles etc come to our studio. Some pictures for inspiration meanwhile.
Great opportunity to use vibrant colours, that you may not have the nerve for indoors. Fabulous!

A Diner Party at our Cottage
Last Saturday was spent getting our cottage ready for a diner party and I thought you might enjoy seeing how we do it. It’s important that our friends feel we have made an effort, our matra is “the effort you go to with your diner party shows how much you care for their friendship and company” so first things first. The flowers, Ian says I can spend more than Elton John on flowers, but this time most of them were brought in from the Garden, the candles are set up, to light seconds before the guests arrive; candelabras, votives and our own scented candles – as many as possible it makes the rooms glamorous and romantic. Next the music a mix of old and new from Diane Krall, Nina Simone and a mix from Stephane Pompognac. Then the drinks, nibbles all to be enjoyed before dining.
A big bunch of Forsythia, for the first arrangement, gathered in a copper urn, that we bought in a local antique shop.
The Forsythia, in the Copper, flanked with bronze lion lamps available from our showroom.
A couple of wraps of Grand Prix roses, one of my favourites, from the flower market.
All a little chaotic still, but we’re getting there. Malachite pots ready for the roses, and sets of mercury votives for candles. Table cloth, made from Mulberry Red and Gold Damask fabric, available at our showroom.
I kept the roses low and simple so each guest could easily talk to each other over the arrangement and picked our
green wine glasses to compliment the malachite vases.
Our Candelabras, found in Paris, give great ambiance to the dining room with an overscaled bunch of scented Sarcococca from the garden.
Guests about to arrive. Champagne on ice in our large silver wine cooler available at the showroom.
Drinks set up for the men, who prefer a real drink, as they call it. Drinks table also available at our showroom.
Now they curl up by the fire. Sofa covered in the new Keats fabric available from the showroom.
Votives at every possible spot to create a cosy atmosphere.
More of the Grand Prix roses, lamp available from the showroom.
The Dining Room ready for the guests.
Horse and Hound fabric, available from our showroom, for the dining room curtains.
I even put votives in the armoire for a little extra flicker.
